I happened upon Daniel today at the bookstore. I was picking up some mail and he stopped in to see if I was around. We had a great talk about the importance of inspiring and enlightening people (as many people as possible) and the importance of preserving the kind of writing that does just that. By means of archival printing methods, be it offset or letterpress, the written word and visual art can be preserved indefinitely; certainly well beyond the age of the oldest surviving books and ephemera that exist today. Those items were not produced with archival materials: acidic paper and inks, weak glues, non-stainless staples, etc. Today we can create literature that will last hundreds of years before it begins to tarnish at all, so long as it is cared for with modest usage. We hope to publish literature that not only lasts but is worth lasting. I look forward to publishing Daniel in the future. His writing is both inspiring and enlightening, and his vision is true.

Both info@ninepointpublishing.com and omphalos@ninepointpublishing.com have been inactive since July 30th. We switched web hosts on that day and ever since then only the latter address has stored emails. So anyone who tried to send an email to info@ got a return notice and anyone who sent to omphalos@ actually succeeded in getting through to us, but not until now. My apologies to all of you! A regretful oversight!

First of all, the September poetry reading had low attendance but excellent readings! Many thanks to all who read and attended! Let’s spread the word and fill the store on October 1st! And though we thought we were recording the readings, we actually weren’t! So we’ll be sure to have that fixed for October’s event.
Here’s what’s happening on all fronts:
- Poetry readings at EFG Books in Bridgton are ongoing every first Thursday of each month. The next reading is October 1st at 7pm. Attend or signup to read here.
- James Leavitt will be both host and featured reader on November 1st, reading his book, Triptych.
- There is going to be a limited edition letterpress broadside printed for the event. Price TBD.
- Many fine submissions have come in for the upcoming Omphalos 10, due out this December!
- Remember, you can add our blog to your RSS reader on your mobile device or desktop computer just by clicking the RSS symbol over there>>> for text only updates and comments! Find our more here.
- Finally, efgbooks.com will become a whole new website within the next week or two, thanks to SlickFish Studios!
Our blog will become more active beginning this fall with announcements pertaining to Nine Point Publishing and EFG Books, as well as to the arts throughout Maine and neighboring regions. We welcome your announcements and comments! Just email geoff@ninepointpublishing.com to have your literary or arts related news posted on the blog.
