Publishing reception next Saturday, August 8th from 5-8pm. Open to the public.
- Event catered by Beth Tracy of Beth’s Kitchen Cafe
- Exclusive letterpress poem by George Erikson printed on Canson Mi Tients paper will be laid into each copy of Water, the Fine Edition title being published.
- First annual Depot Street Festival across town on same day from 2-9pm. Come spend the day in Bridgton!
We will be implementing some small improvements to our website in the coming week or two, including a news ticker on the homepage of the npp site, highlighting whatever exciting things are cooking around here, as well as a signup form on the EFG site for the upcoming poetry readings at EFG Books.
We are also working on designing a blog that integrates more seamlessly with the rest of the npp site. That will likely be a bit later, however.
Portland’s poet laureate (2007-2009) and Omphalos contributor, Martin Steingesser, will be performing two different programs of poems at The World Fellowship Center in Conway, NH on Saturday evening, 7:30 pm, July 25, and Sunday morning, the 26th, at 10 am. (click link for more information and directions)
Bear with us while we figure out the best way to create an online signup form. For now, please either email me at geoff@efgbooks.com or post a comment with your name and email address here. If we change the way we do this at any point your name and place in line will not be lost. We will transfer all information to the new method, whatever it may be. Thanks!
Well, all thirty copies of Water arrived today from Halifax. They’re beautiful. I sat with a copy for a good while slowly appreciating the craftsmanship of both Cardinal Printing and Rhonda Miller, the binder. Kudos to you all.

Water, by George Erikson - available August 8th, 2009
A very short update on what’s been brewing…
- poetry readings at EFG Books starting in September (more soon)
- a featured reader at select readings (more soon)
- letterpress broadside by featured reader available on night of reading (more soon)
James Leavitt is taking on some of my usual tasks to help me out. He is also going to be the primary organizer and host of the readings at EFG. Jim has been to and read at hundreds of readings in Berkeley, Oakland, Portland and beyond. Having introduced the likes of Joyce Carol Oates and Paul Auster, among others, he is more than fit for this arduous yet inspiring task as host. We are in the process of hammering out all the details and laying it down in the July newsletter for all to see. So keep your eyes out for that.
Like I said above…more soon!
We recommend the following book:
Robert Gibbons, Travels Inside the Archive
I shipped the last remaining issues of Omphalos today. I have to apologize (a lot of that lately!) for the slight delay. We implemented a new database beginning (a lot of that lately!) just this June and hopefully my organization skills will only prove more and more impeccable as each issue arrives!
