And thanks for your subscription, Pete!
Hi Geoff, good to hear from you – Congratulations on your website and new publishing plans!! Exciting news all around. Just finished reading George Being George – about editor Goerge Plimpton’s life as writer, editor of the Paris Review and as friend of writers. Very absorbing as the P/Review has been the one publication which has endured over all others, I believe over the past decades. One trademark is the regular interview in each issue of a noted writer or poet. I thought of Omphalos as I read this account. Perhaps at some point you might consider doing an interview in these volumes of whom you consider a current voice which you feel should be noticed. Just a thought. I look forward to your next issue and wish for continued success. Pete B.
Thanks for your kind words and well wishes, Pete! Funny you should mention the interview idea. Though I didn’t have Plimpton in mind, this next issue features an interview with rare book dealer, Rob Warren, owner of Skyline Books in NYC. Although the interview consists only of one question, it is a remarkably candid story of a dealer’s transition from the days prior to the internet into these much faster times. I’ve actually been interested in including interviews since the inception of Omphalos. And I like to think I’m studying how to be a good interviewer! We’ll see if I get somewhere as time goes by. Bound to cover a little more ground.
